Prints and Stock Images of Culloden battlefield
The battle of Culloden, on 16 April 1746, was the last pitched battle fought on British soil and it resulted in the eventual destruction of the tradition way of life in the Highlands. On the moor are the graves of some 1500 Jacobites, marked by Clan Stones. The site and excellent visitor centre is owned by the National Trust for Scotland.
